SOCIAL REINTEGRATION PROGRAM

coeur(50×50)
THE SUPPORT

Specifically, we propose ongoing help and support for women who make the decision to leave the sex trade, right up until they obtain complete independence. The program “An Alternative to the Sex Industry” allows for the implementation of a stable life plan for each woman, by aligning appropriate services to their needs, all while offering them the opportunity to acquire necessary skills for their full development.

  • Helping them find appropriate housing, a healthy social circle and meaningful employment (see  RESEARCH)
  • Develop social and workplace skills

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Even though we are, first and foremost, freeing these female sex trade victims from their traumatic experiences, our intervention approach is based on individual empowerment (power to act) and learning how to manage personal challenges (acquisition of social skills). This will allow each woman to find her place and value in society. Motivational counselling is favoured in order to assist the participant to find her own solutions.

PROJECT IMPORTANCE

We believe that providing the Montréal community with a specific resource for this type of problem is of the utmost importance.
  • These women do not fit in to regular drug rehabilitation centres or in a shelter for victims of domestic violence ;
  • Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Alberta are already offering this type of service ;
  • The International Center of Compared Criminology (ICCC) states that « it is imperative to put the accent on programs geared to these specific services ».

CONTINUUM OF SERVICES

Although many organizations are committed to the establishment of a continuum of services for victims of sexual exploitation, some of them have been identified as essential resources towards the successful implementation of reintegration services for these young women. First, there are partners who will refer these young women wanting to leave their environment to our organization. Secondly, there are a number of resources that will help our organization provide health, psychological, social and professional services to these young women. Collaboration agreements with the Montréal public and community network are and will further be established.
